ChatGPT → Grok

Switch from ChatGPT to Grok without losing your history

Grok is a fresh start — but a fresh start means re-explaining everything you already told ChatGPT. Move My Chat packs your ChatGPT history into clean files you can hand to Grok, so it picks up where you left off.

How the move works

  1. 01

    Export your ChatGPT history

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Data controls → Export data and confirm. A .zip arrives by email within a few minutes, containing your conversations (and your Projects, if you use them).

  2. 02

    Repack it here

Drop the .zip into Move My Chat. It reads your export in this browser tab and rebuilds it into clean folders — one per project, with knowledge files and conversation transcripts — plus import instructions written for Grok.

  3. 03

    Unpack it in Grok

Grok takes your history as attachments. If a project has a lot of transcripts, attach the knowledge files and the most recent conversations first, then paste the included starter prompt to bring Grok up to speed.

Nothing uploaded

Your ChatGPT history never leaves your browser

Move My Chat isn’t a memory service and it doesn’t keep a copy of your chats. Your export is opened, repacked, and downloaded entirely on your own device — no account, no upload, no subscription. The difference from memory platforms is the whole point.
